Simply stunning from start to finish, this five bedroom Victorian has been gifted a recent refurb throughout and the current owners have jam packed it full of perfectly chosen fixtures and quality fittings. The decor is subtle and sympathetic - the surfaces are top notch and it's topped and tailed by beautifully manicured front and rear gardens. Shenley Road is an idyllic street on the Camberwell/Peckham borders.
Enter into a double reception that has been entirely opened up to create a huge living space with lots of light streaming through the front facing bay window. There is a feature fireplace, wooden flooring and neutral walls. There’s more than enough space for a variety of furniture arrangements. Toward the rear is a very sleek, stylish kitchen. A huge overhead skylight floods the room with light and there are bi-folding doors leading onto the patio garden. You have plenty of space for a dining table in here but for a more formal experience we would suggest the reception room (it’s more than big enough!). A nifty utility room with loo is tucked away on the lower ground floor.
Head upstairs to pause on the rear landing. Here you’ll find the first double bedroom overlooking the rear with a pretty bay window and a neatly fitted bathroom with new suite. A short climb to the first floor reveals two further (big) double bedrooms. The master is placed across the width of the house to the front and shares the bay window with that of the ground floor. There is an additional sash window and the décor is chic and stylish. Up again to the second floor landing to find a similar layout to that of the first floor – bathroom plus bedroom at the rear. The loft has been converted into a fifth bedroom stretching the depth of the house with a Juliet balcony, en suite shower room and plenty of eaves storage.
Shenley Road is a quiet, attractive street close to Bellenden Road with all its useful shops and restaurants, including the wonderful Ganapati and The Begging Bowl. There is also a super bookshop, a good dry-cleaners, funky florists, a top boutique and an art gallery (Moca). For pints and yummy nosh check out the Victoria Inn - a much loved local boozer. Regular trains from Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill go to Victoria, Blackfriars and London Bridge. Work in the City? Door to door, you can reach Canary Wharf et al in around 30 minutes on the fab London Overground line. Catch a bus from the bottom of the road and enjoy the sights en route to Notting Hill. Nippers? There is the lovely Villa Nursery at the top of the road (parents and their littlies flock here from miles away). Camberwell supplies a further flood of bars and eateries - we love The Hermit's Cave, The Grand Union and The Crooked Well. The very lovely Warwick Gardens are just up the road if you fancy a picnic - you're bound to bump into any number of friendly creative professionals.
